QWE COURSE
You can now obtain qualifying work experience with the Freedom Law Clinic independently from your SQE studies. On enrolment you will receive:
• An induction call with your supervising solicitor.
• An initial piece of case work.
• Timetable for an assessment report as to your practical ability.
• A learning plan for your first six months of qualifying work experience.
During your induction call you will immediately be set a piece of casework. You will be asked to submit a piece of work on this case which will be used to assess your practical ability.
Within two weeks of enrolment we will provide you with a detailed report on your practical skills as a lawyer.
After six weeks of working on case work you will be assessed with a view to becoming a permanent caseworker within the clinic.
This would mean working with us on a permanent basis to deliver essential pro-bono work.
Our caseworkers are currently working in the following areas:
- Complex criminal appeals
- Civil Liberties, with particular reference to civil remedies for public order
- Housing
- Tort
- Welfare
We are currently recruiting students for this programme on a limited basis due to the close supervision required. You should have in mind that you will be required to work on diverse case work which will often be demanding. You will be part of a growing team with responsibility for developing the clinic’s public engagement.
Fees for the programme are £195.00 per month which covers the cost of your solicitor supervision and the administration of the course.
