Youth violence and knife crime

In 2021, the Freedom Law Clinic will be working on one of the most pressing issues facing our justice system: serious youth violence and knife crime.

Policy makers seemed resigned to the fact that these killings will continue. The deaths of young people on our city streets barely makes the news.

We want to look at this issue with the rigor it deserves. We will be hosting events, organising reading groups and coordinating students throughout 2021 to develop our understanding of the issues further.

We want to speak to the people working on this issue every day.

We want to work with our partner institutions to prepare a response.

We want you to be a part of it.

If you are a student, academic or lawyer interested in working on issues related to youth violence – we want to hear from you.

Join us as we kick off our 2021 research work with a specialist discussion group featuring leading commentators on knife crime and serious youth violence. We want to give our expert panel room to discuss the topic with nuance. We want to avoid the easy explanations.

We hope you can join us for this exciting opening event.
