When before the Magistrates’ Court you are normally before a bench of lay justices. Lay justices should be addressed as ‘Your Worships’. If the trial takes place before a District Judge then it is appropriate to use ‘sir’ or ‘madam’. If you are in the Crown Court then the appropriate mode of address is Your Honour.
