At Freedom Law Clinic, we believe that hands-on experience is an essential part of legal education. Over the last two weeks, we have had the privilege of working closely with our undergraduate students, who have been actively contributing to real criminal cases. Their enthusiasm, dedication, and professionalism have been inspiring, and we want to take a moment to thank them for their hard work.
Our undergraduates are at the heart of our work. Their journey with us does not end with their structured training; many go on to become key members of our team, continuing to contribute to the clinic’s operations and real client cases long after their initial placement.
Over the last nine years, we have worked with students from over 40 leading universities across the UK. Most recently, this has included students from:
With new undergraduate training programmes starting in the coming weeks, we are excited to continue shaping the next generation of legal professionals.
One of the biggest challenges for law students is gaining practical legal skills that complement their academic studies. Our structured work experience programmes provide students with the opportunity to develop critical legal competencies that will serve them throughout their careers.
Through our seven-week programme, students gain valuable insight into the criminal appeals process, working directly on real cases. Participants develop core legal skills, including:
Our undergraduate students have worked on high-profile criminal appeal cases, including convictions for murder and grievous bodily harm (GBH – Section 18 with Intent). The complexity of these cases allows them to engage in critical evidential analysis, handle extensive case papers, and develop an ability to process large volumes of information in high-pressure situations.
Students who excel in the programme may be invited to join Freedom Law Clinic as caseworkers, contributing to a wide range of pro bono cases. This provides an exceptional opportunity for students to work on real legal matters while making a tangible impact on the justice system.
At Freedom Law Clinic, we are committed to providing law students with the practical experience they need to thrive in the legal profession. If you are an undergraduate looking to gain hands-on legal experience, develop essential skills, and work on real criminal cases, our training programme is the perfect opportunity for you.
